Dr. Keith Moore issued the following statements in response to today's news headlines as they pertain to Texas Public Schools:
What is your reaction to today's ruling by the Texas Supreme Court, which found the state's school finance system to be constitutional?
It is disappointing that our courts have to be involved at all in the funding of Texas Public Schools. Ultimately, our legislators will do what their constituents require of them, so I am either led to believe that the citizens of Texas are satisfied with the level of funding for their public schools or they are not paying attention. Either scenario is disheartening to me, but I will continue to focus on Crosby ISD and work within the system to make our schools ones that the community of Crosby can be proud of.
What is your reaction to Texas' lieutenant governor saying the state is prepared to forfeit billions of federal dollars in public school funding in defiance of an Obama administration directive requiring schools to allow transgender students to use bathrooms and locker rooms consistent with their chosen gender identity? A comment on Patrick's plan and/or Obama's directive would be appreciated.
Crosby ISD has and will continue to be respectful of all children and work to create an atmosphere that is welcoming to all. However, as Superintendent of Crosby ISD, I cannot comply with today's directive from the US Dept. of Education that simply defies logic and common sense.
